01 Domain and Hosting

Table of Contents

The first step in getting your own WordPress site up and running, is getting a hosting account and a domain.
The hosting is where the files of the site will be, and the domain is the address (the www or the URL) of your actual website
where people will go to – to see your content.

So in this video I’m going to show you exactly how to do that.

The hosting provider I’m using is HostGator, and if you want to use my link and get the discount coupon I’m using then use this link:

* Note that some of the links I’m using are an affiliate link, which means that if you use this link to purchase through them, then they will pay me a commission.
You will still pay the same fees as you would if you purchased directly from them, but by law I am obliged to inform you that if you choose to use my link, I will also benefit from it.

That said, I am only listing links that I have used myself, or am still using currently.

  • You can also register a domain with Namecheap since they have excellent domain management tools. (Which I will show you how to use in coming video tutorials)
  • Host your site with either HostGator or BlueHost
  • For a single site you are fine with HostGator’s Hatchling. Only take the baby package if you intend to build and host more than a single site.
